    Description

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” black & white glossy new photo reproduction of a 1936 LeMOON Dump Truck, perhaps the 12-ton Model, largest in the line.
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION: This same photo appears in Georgano’s
THE COMPLETE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLE
, and is listed in that photo as a ‘1936 LeMoon 6x4 dump truck’. Art Scammel was the owner painted on the door. Most likely this was the 12-ton model, the largest LeMoon produced. It is also carrying a ’36 license plate on the front grill.
Note: this photo is not as sharp and clear as most of my photos, but is still a very nice representation of what a LeMoon of that era looked like.
HISTORY OF LeMOON: Nelson and LeMoon produced their first truck in Chicago in either 1906 or 1910 … records vary. By 1927, the single name LeMoon was being used. In 1931 LeMoon unveiled a 6-wheel truck with 12-ton capacity - very large for that era. By 1936 LeMoon offered models from 2-ton to 12-ton, with 6-cylinder gasoline engines from Waukesha and diesels from Cummins. Heavier transmissions were Brown-Lipe and front axles were Timken. The last LeMoon was manufactured in April 1939, and it is estimated that around 3,000 LeMoons were produced over their 29-year life span, with most being sold in the Chicago area
