    Description

This is an outstanding high quality 8” x 10” black & white new photo  reproduction of a 1950 AUTOCAR Long-Nosed C-65 operated by REFINERS TRANSPORT & TERMINAL CORP. Petroleum Haulers Inc., Detroit, Michigan.  The original vintage photo was taken in 1950 at Refiners Toledo Terminal on Front Street.
”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION:  The original vintage photo was taken by my late friend Harlan Stewart of Toledo, OH.  He was the proud driver of this long nosed C-65 AUTOCAR, equipped with a Continental 572-cid 6-cylinder gas engine, 5-speed over transmission, and a Neway dead tandem-axle.  The trailer pictured is a propane trailer.  Propane was one of Harlan’s favorite products to haul, and his favorite run was from the bulk plant in Alma, Michigan to the Kaiser-Frazer Plant at Willow Run, Michigan.  The K-F plant at Willow Run was the former Ford Motors plant that built the B-24 Liberator bombers for the European WWII effort ... at that time, the largest building in the world.
Harlan joined the Teamsters Union in 1946, and began driving for REFINERS TRANSPORT & TERMINAL CORPORATION, in 1947.  He proudly drove for Refiners for 28 years, retiring in 1975.  Among the many awards that Harlan earned at Refiners, was a Safe Driving Award by Refiners for 13 years without an accident in 1962.  Driving from the Toledo Front Street terminal, Harlan hauled propane, gasoline & diesel fuels, and all sorts of chemicals.  He drove a 1940 GMC, LJ Macks, this ‘50 Autocar, B-61 Macks, and his last tractor for Refiners ... a 1974 Mack R-Model with a Maxidyne engine was ... “the finest tractor he ever drove”.
REFINERS TRANSPORT and TERMINAL CORP. PETROLEUM HAULERS, INC. was based in Detroit, Michigan.  It was founded by Ray Moulder, who also operated a company under his own name.  According to some figures I have, Refiners was the 3rd largest tank carrier in the nation in 1948.  Eventually Refiners sold out to Leaseway.
CONDITION: This outstanding black & white glossy photo is a newly reproduced photo from an original vintage photo in my personal lifetime collection.  This photo has been printed on excellent quality HP PREMIUM PLUS GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER using HP 02 Vivera Inks, producing a professional quality photo that resists fading over 100 years ... the best money can buy.  This full 8x10 photo is borderless.
