DESCRIPTION: This WHITE 3000 & FRUEHAUF Moving Van owned by The Lincoln Storage Co. of Cleveland, OH looks to be brand new and freshly lettered. At that time, Lincoln Storage was an agent for Allied Van Lines. Notice the old-style sander tanks in front of the drive tires, the air horns on the top of the cab, and a chrome spotlight on the driver’s side door post.
LINCOLN STORAGE CO.: The original company was founded in 1904 on Euclid Ave. in Cleveland, eventually moving to a 7-story building in University Circle. Lincoln serviced many of Cleveland’s families and companies for decades. In 1976 Lincoln changed ownership, moving into their current headquarters & warehouse in suburban Brooklyn, OH. In 2008 they became an interstate agent for Bekins Van Lines.
HISTORY OF ALLIED VAN LINES:  Founded in 1928 as a cooperative non-profit organization owned by its member agents on the east coast, to help them organize return loads. In 1968 it was reorganized as a standard public company. In 1999 it merged with its larger competitor, North American Van Lines, and the combined entity then came under the holding company Allied Worldwide. In 2002, Allied Worldwide was renamed SIRVA, Inc., which went public the following year, as the world’s largest relocation and van line logistics company.
WHITE 3000:  The White Motor Co. of Cleveland was in business from 1900 to 1981, with earlier roots in sewing machines and steam cars.  The White 3000 Model was introduced in 1949, with a power-tilt cab, and usually was gasoline powered, although some diesels were offered.  It was very popular in the 1950s as both a truck and a tractor in various sizes. Although I am not sure, I believe the 3000 model was built until 1960. In the 1950s White acquired truck builders Sterling, Autocar, Reo and Diamond T, and marketed Freightliners.  But sales were declining in the 1960s and by 1980 White was insolvent.  Volvo AB acquired the assets of the company, combined them with the GMC heavy truck business in 1987. Eventually Volvo dropped any reference to White and is now Volvo Trucks North America.
