Antique Carl Baunscheidt Lebensweker Quack Medical "Life Awakener"

Please have a look at all of my current listings.  They are part of my 50 plus years of collecting to be listed (as time permits) over the coming weeks and months.  My collection includes Antique items such as Military Items and Watches (all wars), Scientific Instruments, Radios, Bottles, Barometers, Surveying Instruments, Prohibition (and Pre-Prohibition) Whiskey, Art, Books, etc.  I have fully packed storage boxes full of wonderful things that need to see the light of day once more.  I simply do not have the room anymore (just ask my wife).  It was really hard at first to part with my "treasures" but I find comfort knowing that they will be cared for by the new owners.  Additionally, the kind messages I have received after delivery have meant the world to me making it easier and easier to part.  Thanks to all the buyers for adopting and caring for bits of my collection.  Let me know if you have any specific needs and I will try to list them.  ENJOY!!!
Here we have a well made and original Carl Baunscheidt Lebensweker.  Lebensweker literally translated means "Life Awakener".  From the 19th century.  The apparatus functions as it should.  It is in beautiful condition as seen in all the photos.  The thing is made of turned Ebony wood I think.  The top screws on the the longer bottom (working end) and is loose.  Looks like there is a really hard to see hair line crack in the top which is why it is loose I guess.  Just over 10.5 inches long.  All sorts of information via Mr.
Google on this so I will let you look for yourself for details.  Basically one would remove the top, place the working end to the selected part of the body (needle end), pull on the other end which is attached to a spring mechanism and release.  The needles would puncture the skin causing pain and bleeding.  More importantly a place to rub in the "special" salve.  It was a healing procedure of sorts.  If you end up winning it and decide to give it a try please let me know how if works out for you.  I choose not to step up the that plate and take a swing (spring).
