    It is mechanical, but electrical. It does not work.
    Based in Newark, New Jersey, Hanovia was a pioneer in sun lamps and is still in business.
    It was likely used as some kind of timing device for the Hanovia Alpine Sun Lamp.
    The Alpine Sun Lamp was used as some kind of healing device.
    I'm guessing that it's from the 1930s or so, but am not certain.
