    Description

    This is a NOS advertising antique quack medicine box, measures approx 2.75 x 2  x .5 inches.  Iron pills remedy in all those cases of anemia distinguished by paleness...so if you were pale, this was the cure.  Did some reading one and it was quite the scandal in 1895, the state of Ohio brought charges against the manufacturer for false advertising and fraud, and found the company had paid off several doctors and chemists for false testimony (in sums of up to ,000 each) and a chemist analyzed they were selling none other than glucose sugar.   The Pre-Digested Food Co had made millions after launching their cure.  That's why they called it Quack, before the pure food laws of 1906 required ingredient listings.  For collector display only.  Estate find.
