    Description

    This is a lovely, jade green and black lacquered box from Asia.  It was given to me as a gift in the 1990s from friends who had traveled to Nepal, Cambodia and Thailand.  My assumption is that the decorative box was purchased in one of these three countries.  I have used this beautiful handmade, lacquered box as a jewelry box but think it was probably intended as a cricket box or as a ceremonial box.  It could be used for a variety of purposes.  I have seen similar boxes listed on line as having been made in Thailand from lacquered Mango wood or bamboo.  The jade box is in great shape, free from breaks or cracks.  It measures about 4.5" tall and 5.25" wide.  This beautiful box is a great accent piece for Asian decor.
