    C.  W. BLAKESLEE & SONS INC.: This family run business traces its roots in the construction industry back to 1844 as a general contracting firm in New Haven, CT. Recognizing the emerging technology of prestressed and precast concrete in 1958, Blakeslee Prestress Inc. was formed in Branford, CT, where they still operate a 150,000 sf state-of-the-art facility on a 36-acre site. As a contractor, they were a pioneer in establishing a trap rock quarry, and early concrete pavements, as well as building dams, tunnels, bridges. In the early 1960s they built much of  I-91 and I-95 in Connecticut. In 1969 Blakeslee was purchased by Westinghouse Electric Co. In 1976 was purchased by a management group and renamed Blakeslee, Arpaio, Chapman, Inc. In 1986 Vincent Arpaio retired. The company is now solely by the Chapman family, continuing to provide engineered construction services, along with preforming Heavy, Marine, Utility and Rigging & Millwrighting work.
