Dr Clark Johnson's Indian Blood Syrup Quack Medicine Promo Book etc 1873
    Description
This book, called "Seven and Nine Years Among the Camanches and Apaches" is a story fabricated for the purpose of marketing Dr. Clark Johnson's Indian Blood Syrup, a patent medicine that could purportedly cure just about anything.
The book tells the story of Edwin Eastman who was, along with his wife, taken captive by and lived among the Indians, eventually escaping. While among them he learned some medicinal secrets shared with the public in the remedy called Dr. Clark Johnson's Indian Blood Syrup.
This book measures 5" x 7-1/4" and has 309 pages. It is first edition, published in 1873 by Clark Johnson, M.D. (there probably wasn't such as person -- part of the marketing gimmick). It is in acceptable condition with name of previous owner inside front, light stains throughout, and some pages with tears. With exterior wear as well.
A great piece of patent medicine history!
