    Description

Book of 24 original Maine Central Railroad employee timetables, No 55 to 78 inclusive, dated June 21, 1875 to January 26, 1880.   Book measures about 10 x 10.
This book was made for J. H. Drummond (1827-1902) - he practiced law in Waterville after his graduation from Waterville College in 1846.  He moved to Portland in 1860.  He served the Maine legislature, where he was Speaker of the House of Representatives in 1858 and 1869.  He served in the Maine Senate in 1859 and was the state's Attorney General from 1860 - 1864.  From 1865 to his death in 1902, Drummond was one of the directors of the Maine Central Railroad.
Timetables are bound into the book as shown.  The first couple timetables are folded, but the rest are bound flat, as issued.
Covers show wear at corners and spine.  Front cover has a tear along right side, as shown, that doesn't affect contents.
First timetable has a couple of separations at the folds, however the rest are in remarkable condition, due to having been preserved between the heavy-duty covers of this book.
I see Maine Central ETT's, post-1900 going for 0 or more.  Each timetable in this book is easily worth that, (or much more).  I could not find any MEC employee timetables this old that had been sold anywhere.
I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime find for the serious Maine Central historian or collector.
Registered postage with insurance is .00.  It will be well packed and shipped in a sturdy box.
