The Chloride of Silver Dry Battery, Co. 1800's Electrical Shock Device. I'll let the photos speak for themselves on this item. Most of these devices are in pretty poor shape in original condition, particularly the ones that used acid bateries. Invariably the acid would leak from the batteries, and destroy everything in its path. This particular item was totally disassembled, and meticulously cleaned. The wood was stained with period correct analine dye, and coated with authentic shellac. The metal pieces were cleaned and plated with period correct nickel. As you can see, the two labels are in near perfect condition. The shock handles and wire leads were in 100% perfect condition, and were only cleaned.They are in 100% original condition. One of the unique featutes of this particular device is the detachable battery. Back in the day when the battery ran down, you could remove and replace it. I have cleaned the battery box back to its original condition and replaced the batteies with modern AA's, which are replaceable. In my opinion, the most desirable feature is its diminutive, doll-like size of only 8-1/2" x 4-1/2" x 2". Did I mention that it's fully functional? Indeed, and still packs quite the punch. If you're familiar with this type of Buzz-Box, you'll know that the oscillating contacts meed need a tap or two to get it started occasionally, but the more that it's used, the more consistent that it operates. The latches on the lid function and operate perfectly. I kept the old hardware that I replaced, as shown in the photographs. This will ship from Zip Code 84078, in a 5" x 14" x 10" box at 5 lbs. I suspect shipping will be in the .00-.00 range. It could easily fit into one of the USPS Standard Shippping boxes-Insurance would be extra, and on the buyer. This is a no complaints item.
