Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: For sale is this very compelling & unscathed late 19th-early 20th c Satsuma Japanese hnd pntd figurative, 8" in diameter prcln cer dec plate, feat a teal dec underside, raised cleated foot & Japanese calligraphic maker's mark red stamp on its baseplate. The estate fresh, new to the marketplace example of the long trad of Satsuma Japanese hand dec, fig cer art, is a quite ambitious & exceptional one, w/2 rural Japanese farmers holding baskets & tossing rice seeds into the shallow waters of a rice paddy from a thin, man-made isthmus jetting out between 2 adjacent water filled paddies, allowing the farmers to seed them. Vegetation can be seen in the foreground, coming in from the lower R in the form of a branch & foliage from a tree, possibly a pine. Purple & sienna peaked mountains rise majestically in the background. This framed scene is rimmed w/Mandarin orange & gold filigree borders w/vignettes of flowers. The underside is a teal blue.
