Vintage 1940 3D Tru-Vue True View Chez Paree After Dark Chicago IL Film #1305 View-Master____________________________________________________________
I have been collecting 3D media for the last 30 years and finally decided it's time to part ways with some of my favorite things. This is one of the hardest to find and most desirable Tru Vue films ever made. (Please see my other listings for the others)
It features photos taken from all around the famous nightclub. One 3D photos shows the Sterener Sisters as they do a warm up stretch before the evenings performance. Another shows producer, Fred Evans with several of his "Adorables" dancers. Another is of Lois Wallner with his amazing all male chorus. And another with Frank Libuse and Lois Sterner, the clowns of all clowns. Margot Brander is shown at the mic, and Morton Downey at the piano. Another backstage photo in amazing 3D shows a few of the beautiful dancers as they snack on potato chips. Very historic photos of this classic Chicago night club.
Condition:
The film is in excellent condition. I have personally gone through it with white gloves to inspect every frame and every film cog. Everything checks out and is in excellent condition. For those interested in viewing these I would suggest pulling them slowly through the viewer rather than using the advance. This is how the cogs get torn. The original silver and red box has all flaps attached and is also in excellent condition. It does have some
very slight shelf wear
which is to be considered from a small box that has been around for almost 70 years. I have tried my best to photograph every aspect of the box and film. Please check them out and if you have any questions, please email!
Thanks for looking!
About Chez Paree from Wikipedia:
The Chez Paree was a Chicago nightclub, which opened in 1932 and closed in 1960. Located in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago at 610 N. Fairbanks Court, the club was host to many great entertainers, ranging from singers to comedians to vaudeville acts. A "new" Chez Paree opened briefly in the mid-1960s on 400 N. Wabash Avenue and was seen in the film Mickey One with Warren Beatty.
The Chez Paree was originally opened in 1932 by Mike Fritzel and Joe Jacobson. After reported financial problems operating the large club, it was sold to a group of partners in 1949; Jack Schatz, Don Jo Medlevine, Al Kaiser (not the MLB player), and Dave Halper.
At the height of Chicago mob influence, the Chez Paree was noted for having been frequented by many of the recognizable mob names of that era. The address is now home to a real estate development firm called Schatz Development and an Internet-based apartment listing service known as Domu.

About Tru-Vue from the UK Viewmaster website:
TRU-VUE Inc., Rock Island, Illinois USA manufactured the viewers and over 400 different 3D film reels. The company was founded in 1931 and after the 1933 "Century of Progress Exposition" in Chicago grew and flourished through the 1930's and 40's. The original viewers used 35mm filmstrips, generally containing 14 stereo views, which were pulled through the viewer using a lever. In 1949 Tru-Vue sold over a million reels of film!. The quality of the 3D presented is generally very good, although the films need to be handled carefully. Film-strips and viewers were made between 1933 and 1952. Ultimately the Tru-Vue company was acquired by Sawyers View-Master in 1952, who wanted the rights to Disney licences held by the company.
