VINTAGE KITTY CUCUMBER “KITTY HOLDING BUTTERFLY NET” PORCELAIN THIMBLE. It is from the “Victorian Garden Party Collection”.  The Kitty Cucumber Collection evolved from a favorite cat that artist Mary Lillemoe had as a child- a cat born, of all places, in a cucumber patch.  Many years later, upon first seeing Mary's whimsical sketches of her now famous childhood pet, Mary's 5-year-old daughter Annie proudly announced, "That's Kitty Cucumber!"  And with that out- of- the mouths-of babes exclamation, a collection was born.  Schmid was an international leader in fine gifts and collectibles, and transformed Kitty and her friends into finely handcrafted, hand painted collectibles.  Schmid’s exceptional collection of Kitty Cucumber miniature thimbles is loved by all.  Kitty and her friends are beautifully depicted in these hand painted porcelain thimbles.  This thimble for auction is “Kitty Holding Butterfly Net” from the “Victorian Garden Party” collection.  Kitty Cucumber is dressed in a cute Victorian style outfit.  It is a long dress with delicate dark-colored flowers.  The dress has a ruffled collar and sleeves, and period style straw bonnet with a pink bow and ribbon.  She is holding up her butterfly net so proudly, as it has a butterfly in it!  She looks very sweet!  She has a cute facial expression with gleaming blue eyes and white whiskers.  It measures 1-1/2” high.  On the inside of the thimble, it is marked B. Shackman, 1992, with a Schmid sticker.  What a treasure for the Kitty Cucumber, or thimble collector.  Kitty Cucumber porcelain collectibles withstand the test of time, with avid collectors all over the globe.  Although vintage, the thimble has never been displayed - from a smoke & pet free home.  This thimble could also be used as a mini figurine to display anywhere.  It is Schmid #34043.  No box.  What fun it would be to get the whole collection of Kitty Cucumber thimbles!  We have included the picture of one collection that is displayed in a Kitty Cucumber Wooden House for your reference (see attached photo).  But this auction is only for the Kitty Cucumber Kitty Holding Butterfly Net thimble.
