Vintage Sollux Lamp made by Hanovia Chemical & Mfg. Co. Made In Germany.
This lamp was made anywhere from 1920-1940 ( I haven't been able to pinpoint).
Sollux lamps are used as a means of thermotherapy, an ultraviolet heat used to treat ailments such as arthritis, sinusitis and acne (among other things).
This model stands 23" tall. The base is cast iron and is 5"x8.75". The arm swings left and right. There is a thumb screw that allows the arm to swing forward and back. The main piece is approx. 17" long. It also has thumb screws that allow it to swing up and down. There is a ring at the bottom that appears to be made of a cork type material (the rest of the lamp is metal).
The power cord is a braided cloth covered wire. It is is frayed in many places and there is electrical tape binding it together at the top. For this reason, I am unable to test the lamp. There is, however, a bulb inserted that may possibly work.
A very unique and rare find! Very "steampunk" design!
