    Description

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” COLOR glossy new photo reproduction of the “BIG MUSKIE” DRAGLINE ... THE LARGEST MACHINE THAT HAS EVER WALKED THE FACE OF THE EARTH! This reproduced photo is from my personal collection.
This is my Photo #4 of ‘Big Muskie”.
SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.
DESCRIPTION:  “BIG MUSKIE” was a giant electric-powered BUCYRUS-ERIE Model 4250-W dragline owned by the Central Ohio Coal Company, a subsidiary of American Electric Power.  Taking 3 years to build and costing million, she started her working career in 1969, stripping overburden from coal formations in the coal-rich hills of Southeastern Ohio near the town of Cumberland.  She was a “walking dragline”, propelled ahead by hydraulically driven walking feet or large pads. In this photo, BIG MUSKIE is stripping the overburden off the coal seam, while a smaller shovel loads the coal from the coal seam and loads it into the waiting bottom dump wagon to take it to the coal processing plant, eventually going to AEP’s huge power plant in Relief, Ohio.  Due to a depression in the demand for high-sulfur Ohio coal, she was parked in 1991, never to again to be productive.  An effort to preserve her as a tourist attraction failed in the late 1990s, and in May 1999 the scrapping contractor cut her boom cables, ending any chance of preservation.
BIG MUSKIE: was a Model 4250-W BUCYRUS-ERIE dragline, the only one ever built.  She weighed 27 million pounds, swung a bucket of 220 CY on a 310’ long double tubular boom and stood 222’ high.  At 151’ wide, she compared to an 8-lane highway, and was powered with 13,800 volts of electricity.  Her empty bucket weighed 230 tons!  In her 22 year lifetime, she removed over 608,000,000 cubic yards of overburden ... twice the amount of earth moved in the construction of the Panama Canal.  She uncovered over 20,000,000 tons of clean coal.
CONDITION: This outstanding color photo is a newly reproduced photo from a vintage photo in my personal lifetime collection.  This photo has been printed on excellent quality HP PREMIUM GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER using Original HP 64 Inks, producing a professional quality photo that resists fading over 100 years ... the best money can buy.  This full 8x10 photo is borderless.
